Year 1 Hoghton Tower Trip

On Wednesday Year 1 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Hoghton Tower as part of our ‘Once upon a time …’ topic. We enjoyed dressing up in costumes and exploring the castle which is 451 years old! We found out that King James visited the castle in 1617.

We enjoyed exploring some of the rooms in the castle including the bedrooms, banqueting hall and the King’s entrance hall. Some children were knighted and others were smelly peasants cured by the King! We loved looking at the collection of doll’s houses and spotting all the interesting things!

We ate lunch in the gardens and then explored the dungeons! We were very brave!

Thank you to our parent helpers and to all the children who did us proud with their behaviour as always!
